About the Artist
A.E. Van Fleet is an interdisciplinary artist and graphic designer living in Fullerton, Calif. He received both his BA in Graphic Design and his MFA in Studio Art and Design from California State University, San Bernardino.
Van Fleet unites his influences from pop culture and esotericism to works that challenge traditional binary categorizations in western art and culture, through the use of fetish and transgressive configurations, while attempting to demystify the veil that separates the experiential from the transcendent.
He has participated in several group exhibitions at venues like the Little Gallery of San Bernardino, Robert and Frances Museum of Art, dA Center for the Arts, National Orange Show Art Gallery and the Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach. He has received several honors including the Sam and Beverly Maloof Scholarship and the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art’s 2015 Emerging Art Professional award for his solo exhibition, The Hero’s Journey.
